Field Trips & Outreach
WOW! Children’s Museum is an excellent resource for memorable field trips and outside-the-classroom learning. Field trips give local school children an opportunity to learn through play and explore the world around them in a fun, unique, and educational environment. We welcome visiting groups from preschools, elementary schools, community groups, after school programs, and childcare centers. We support learning by providing unique hands-on experiences that encourage imagination, curiosity, and questioning. In our informal environment, children can delve into a variety of diverse hands-on exhibits from setting sail on a pirate ship to taking on the role of a health professional at the clinic. Adult supervisors are encouraged to actively engage and play with children at each exhibit space.
WOW! believes in the power of play. The social and cognitive skills learned at a very young age lay the foundation for acquiring important skills later in life. Our interactive, hands-on exhibits allow children to explore, create, inquire, and discover, helping them develop critical thinking, problem-solving and physical skills. Children and families from throughout Colorado benefit from the Museum’s rich learning environment, which helps children develop critical foundational skills in an informal educational setting. WOW! plays a critical role in our community by providing informal play experiences in a safe and educational environment. Within our Museum walls, children explore exhibits about a variety of subjects, including STEM, art, music, imaginative play, and practical life. Our exhibits are designed to stimulate healthy child development and to be engaging to children and families. The majority of the Museum’s exhibits are created, designed, and built in our onsite workshop. Our design process allows us to gather valuable feedback from visitors to create exhibits that engage children and allow them to learn while doing. With exhibits based on bubbles, wind, art, health, banking, and more the Museum is full of ways for kids to explore, discover and imagine!
WOW!’s Education staff creates and delivers classes for our Exploration Field Trip option. Our educational classes complement Colorado Public School curriculum for Elementary Science, and are delivered at the Museum during an Exploration Field Trip. WOW!’s Exploration Field Trips are available to children as young as three years old to supplement an often overlooked subject area for toddlers. During an Exploration Field Trip, students explore grade-appropriate concepts in an inquiry-based environment that provides opportunities to practice math, science, and literacy process skills.
