Health Benefits of Volunteering

At WOW! Children’s Museum we can look around and readily see how the support of volunteers has a positive impact on everything that we do – from our exhibit design, maintenance, and upkeep; to our volunteers who work directly with children in our Art Room and on the Museum floor.  A sometimes lesser considered benefit of volunteering, however, is how good volunteering is for all of us!  According to author Claire Shinn, there are eight ways in which volunteering can benefit the health of individuals. Some benefits can include boosting self-esteem, the opportunity to learn new skills and setting a good example for future generations. Read on to learn more about these and other benefits!
